The terrible tragedies both natural and manmade of the past few years have spawned a tremendous need for support to get families back on their feet.
Individuals and businesses around the world have stepped up to the plate. Yet there are so many, still crying out for help, in so many places.
Retired and living on savings and social security I am unable to have more than a nominal effect on the situation with available funds. My retirement is secure but every sad report nagged at me to find a way to help.
When the personal computer burst upon the scene I decided I was too old to mess with them. Besides I was retired and ready to kick back and enjoy my freedom. I planned to work in my gardens, ( I have 22 azalea gardens on 2 1/2 acres), to learn how to play golf and to pursue my glass etching and acrylic painting artworks.
Well I've heard that "If you want to make God laugh make plans."
He must still be laughing at me. My daughter embraced the personal computer explosion. She is an optometrist and used it in her office. Then along came the laptop and she got one. One day she showed up at my door with "I brought you something." I'm sure you guessed it was her desktop computer. I was really intimidated by the time she had hooked it all up and processed my new account. Anyway I survived the hunt and peck experimentation. For weeks it sat there mocking me.
So after about five years now, I've used it to write and publish three books, built five web sites and produce a bi-monthly newsletter for my K of C council. It has been an education and has given me a new lease on life, something to do with the rest of the time I have until my name is called for my last judgment. It also keeps an old man out of the bars and off the streets.
A few months ago an e-mail about making money with an online business caught my eye I decided to give it a try. It would be a way for me to "Pay It Back" for all the blessings and successes I've received over my 75 years on this space ship earth.
.So over the past three months I launched an online shopping site. With the sales commissions I will be able to help organizations support families in need.
Individuals and businesses alike can purchase the items needed for everyday living, while helping those in need, without causing any burden on their finances. I realize that there will be some, who will think that I will probably just pocket most of the commissions. I have included a page to post the recipients and amounts of funds they receive.
Life can be so fickle as everybody knows. So many families losing everything to floods, fires, earthquakes, storms, foreclosure and layoffs, all needing a leg up until they can get back on their feet. It's not the governments responsibility to prop them up, that just means more taxes. If we on the other hand can find ways to use the economy to provide that support, everyone benefits and the government waste on administration is negated. All it takes is for someone to step up and do the work. Hopefully I can in some small way answer that call. The amount of online everyday living items purchased around the world produces millons of dollars in commissions for someone. We can all be good neighbors to our suffering neighbors by choosing to use this site to send some of those commissions to organizations who help families who have, through no fault of their own, come on hard times.
